First Indian Hotpot in SG: Yummy!!!

The HotPot craze has taken over Singapore by storm over the last few years. We finally get our first Indian version of it and who better to lead the way than the innovative folks at Cavern@ Horsecity.

Hot Pot, also known as steamboat, is a Chinese cooking method, prepared with a simmering pot of soup stock at the dining table, containing a variety of East Asian foodstuffs and ingredients. While the hot pot is kept simmering, ingredients are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table, in a manner similar to fondue.

For those who have yet to try Cavern's BUDAKA , the first thing tt may strike you is that "what is so Indian about this?". The answer to that lies in the broth. While most of us may be familiar with clear, spicy, mala, tom yum, the culinary artistes in Cavern have nandu (CRAB rasam, sardine laksa and/or anchovies gravy.

I went for the Nandu Rasam and it was Da Bomb. It was absolutely delicious. The Budaka sells at $34.90 and can easily feed 2-3 people.

Apart from the broth. Cavern also boasts a signature range of homemade chilli sauces and dips, gives the dish an authentic Indian kick.

While the ingredients are the usual staple times, similar to other Hotpots, the sliced fish was just exquisite. it was marinated and seasoned to perfection.

The Budaka is only available from Sundays to Thursdays from 5pm to 10.30pm. Its best to make your reservations before you head down.

It is no surprise to find this discovery at Cavern @ Horsecity. The people behind Cavern have been known to be trendsetters/trailblazers in this industry. Cavern has become a household name for their Satti Sorus as well as featuring live bands almost every day.
