10 Fact You Did Not Know About Sri Devi

1. Sridevi was not the director's first choice for two of her films which made her a star. Jaya Prada was considered for Nagina, while Rekha was supposed to do Chandni

2. Sridevi also sang playback in a handful of films, including Sadma (Ek Dafa Ek Jungle Tha with Kamal Haasan) and Chandni (the title song with Jolly Mukherjee) 

3. Sridevi was originally cast in a dual role in Baazigar but the role was rewritten and cast with Kajol and Shilpa Shetty because the creators felt audiences would not sympathize with Shah Rukh Khan's character if he "killed" Sridevi 

4. Sridevi shot for the hit song Na Jaane Kaha Se Aayi ai  from  ChaalBaaz  with a 103-degree fever. Her performance won her a Filmfare Award for Best Actress. 

5.  When Boney Kapoor approached Sridevi's mother for Mr. India, her mother quoted Rs 10 lakh. Boney Kapoor paid Sridevi Rs 11 lakh instead. Later, he admitted that he wanted to get to know the actress better.

6. Yesteryear actress Naaz and veteran actress Rekha dubbed for a lot of Sridevi’s films as she was not adept in Hindi 

7.  In 1993, when Hollywood director Steven Spielberg was casting for Jurassic Park, he had approached Sridevi for a role in the film, but she rejected it as she felt that the role was not profound enough.

8. Sridevi and Jaya Prada were arch-rivals and shared bitter relations. While shooting 1984 film Maqsad, actors Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra reportedly locked Sridevi and Jaya Prada into a make-up room in the hope they would sort things out but shockingly when they unlocked the door two hours later, the actresses were found sitting at opposite ends in unyielding silence.

9.  Hrithik Roshan had his first speaking role opposite Sridevi, in Bhagwan Dada which starred his father Rakesh Roshan and Rajinikanth. He was a child artist then.

10.  The most surprising is the fact that Sridevi was only 13 years old when she played the role of Rajinikanth’s stepmother in the 1976 Tamil film Moondru Mudichu.
